How to distinguish between real and fake silk scarves? Due to the special nature of the material, the price of silk scarves is more than double that of chemical fiber and imitation silk. 1. Luster Identification Method

Real silk looks very delicate and smooth, and because it has light-absorbing properties, it will have a pearly luster, a slightly shiny feeling.
Imitation silk fabric has a dull surface and no pearly luster. Up close, you will see clearly defined textures.
2. Touch Identification Method
Real silk feels soft and flowing, with dense silk threads. Like the smoothness of a Dove chocolate bar, you'll understand the feeling. If you rub two layers of fabric together, you will feel a slight scratchiness, which is the unique "silk sound" of real silk.
Some imitation silk fabrics undergo a softening treatment, making them feel soft to the touch, which can be easily confused. However, imitation silk generally feels cold and damp; with careful touch, you can still tell the difference.
Alternatively, you can grasp the scarf tightly and then release it. Real silk will immediately unfold, appearing very soft, while imitation silk will retain some wrinkles, appearing slightly stiff.

When real silk burns, there is no visible flame, and it smells like burning hair. The ash is black and granular and can be crushed by hand.
